As Project coordinator, you are assisting the coordination, preparation and execution of event documentation for the projects taking place within the George R. Brown Convention Center. You are the liaison between the operations team to ensure that the client is getting the best possible experience through a high level set of services. We want to provide a resource that allows more of a partnership rather than a traditional in-house company. Our objective is to help clients enhance their event experience through our full service solutions.
George R Brown Convention Center is one of ten city owned and operated properties within the city of Houston. Houston First Corporation (HFC) is the official destination marketing organization which promotes the region as a destination for tourism and convention business.
Project Coordinator Job Duties:
- Development and supervision of production budgets
- Oversight and coordination of contractors, unions, vendors, and freelance staff
- Prioritization of internal resources
- The creation of and follow up on detailed production schedules
- Initiation of quality control procedures throughout the entire project process
- Articulate in communication with the venue, and management of on-site activities
- Leadership of regular meetings and calls to capture best practices and incorporate those into workflow
- Oversight of budgets to maximize gross profits and minimize project overrun with the sales team
- Support the sales team in client communication, internal communication, budgeting, and expense centers
- Adherence to standard operating procedures and event planning protocols
- Oversight of production and technical walkthroughs
Project Coordinator Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years in a production company, marketing firm, creative agency, or relevant consulting firm
- Management experience desirable, including budget and financial management, team leadership, employee development, cross-organization collaboration
- Experience in show production with a show-must-go-on attitude (theater or live music productions preferred)
- Ability to work as part of an innovative creative team
- Results driven passion for the work, and pride in a job well done
- Proactive and independent in a self-managed, project-based environment
- Effective communication and facilitation skills over multiple projects and priorities
- Comprehensive, big-picture understanding as well as a grasp of fine details
- Thorough understanding of and design experience with structural and mechanical construction for the stage, including materials, techniques, and rigging; carpentry experience preferred
- Microsoft Office experience required (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)
- Proficient with Google Docs
- Familiarity in Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD
